The mass balance of the glacier is equal to the difference between the accumulation and the ablation. The mass balance of glaciers is directly affected by the changes of atmospheric precipitation (solid and liquid water) and temperature. The conditions of heat and water on the glacier are constantly changing, and the annual material balance is also different. If the accumulated amount is greater than the melting amount, a positive balance will appear, which is conducive to the development of the glacier; if the accumulated amount is less than the melting amount, it will produce a negative balance, leading to the retreat of the glacier.
