                           Model Change Bulletin

                                   MCB#2

                          EPA-CMB8.2 (dated 05174)

DOS-based CMB7 was updated and enhanced in 1997 with the development of CMB8
and its documentation by Desert Research Institute (DRI). These products were
delivered to EPA in 1998. While CMB8 represents the first Windows-based
version of the software, certain operational issues needed to be resolved
and we thought the User Interface could be improved. This led us down a
development path to an upgraded version which we call EPA-CMB8.2. This
version enjoys contributions from staff at Pacific Environmental Services
(now MACTEC), and more recently from staff at Ideal Software, Inc. (See
Help|About in the software.)

Substantial quality control efforts have been made to ensure that EPA-CMB8.2
is functionally and numerically equivalent to its predecessor - CMB8. This was
especially important since the LINPACK linear algebra library was upgraded to
LAPACK v3.0. In late 2004, EPA-CMB8.2 and its documentation were subjected to
peer scientific review. The panel's comments, criticism, and suggestions were
addressed through appropriate revisions to the documentation, as well as the
source code for this release of the model.

The source code posted for this model includes both Fortran & C++ (for the
DLL) and Delphi7 code for the User Interface. Both the DLL and the Delphi
client (executable) have been compiled and tested on a PC with Windows XP.

New Model Change Bulletins will ONLY be issued when there is a change
to the source code for this model. Changes to test cases and/or any pre-
and post-processors that are included in the archived file for this model
will be addressed and appropriately identified in an amendment to this
model's latest MCB with notification posted in the ALERTS section of the
Website.
