Black carbon (BC) aerosols are ubiquitous in the troposphere and are the main absorbers of visible light. They have been considered an important air pollutant and short-lived climate promoter in the past few decades. This dataset includes the concentration levels of BC in ice and snow in the Arctic region, as well as representative records of BC ice cores from different regions since the Industrial Revolution (1750s) to study the changes in BC concentration over time. This dataset compiles different methods for measuring BC in ice and snow based on its physical and optical properties. It provides a summary of the changes in BC in ice cores and the spatial distribution of BC in the Arctic region.",
