The annual average aridity index (AI) data of each station is calculated by the ratio of the annual average precipitation P to the annual average potential evapotranspiration E0. Using altitude, temperature, precipitation, vegetation and other data as auxiliary variables, the data is interpolated into a 1 km grid data using the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) method. Finally, the vector boundary clipping of the Qilian Mountains region is used to generate the annual average aridity index (AI) data of the Qilian Mountains region from 1981 to 2010.
