The study area is located in the Populus euphratica forest in Ejina Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, downstream of the Heihe River. According to the different heights and breast height diameters of Populus euphratica forests, sample trees were selected to install Thermal Dissection SAP Flow Velocity Probes (TDP), using domestically produced TDP pin type TDP plant flow meters with the model TDP30. Set up TDP1 and TDP2 sampling points near the mixed forest station and Populus euphratica station, respectively. The height of the sample trees from high to low is TDP2 (16.4 meters, 18.3 meters, 16.9 meters), TDP1 (12.5 meters, 13 meters, 14 meters), and the diameter at breast height from large to small is TDP1 (48 centimeters, 41.6 centimeters, 46.6 centimeters), TDP2 (33.8 centimeters, 38.5 centimeters, 42.3 centimeters), with densities of TDP1 (0.0158 trees/square meter) and TDP2 (0.0116 trees/square meter), respectively, to represent the measurement of Populus euphratica transpiration in the entire area. Two sets of probes are installed on each sample tree, with a height of 1.3 meters and orientations towards the east and west of the sample tree.
