TY - Data T1 - Inventory dataset of glaciers on the northern slope of Tianshan Mountains (1990-2020) A1 - Yao Xiaojun A1 - Hu Jiayu A1 - liuyidan A1 - zhangjuan A1 - guozhenyang DO - 10.12072/ncdc.xjkk.db6569.2024 PY - 2024 DA - 2024-09-11 PB - National Cryosphere Desert Data Center AB - Glaciers are sensitive indicators of climate change, and studying their dynamic changes is of great significance for revealing global climate change. The northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains is greatly affected by the Siberian high pressure, with an annual average temperature of -0.71 ° C and an annual average precipitation of 289mm. Summer precipitation accounts for 52% of the annual precipitation, and the precipitation gradually decreases from west to east. Affected by global climate change, glaciers on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains are showing a rapid retreat trend. In the latest global glacier cataloging dataset (RGI 7.0), the glacier interpretation data sources on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains were mainly around 2010, and the timeliness of the data is difficult to meet practical needs. The results show that in 2020, the number and area of glaciers on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains were 3253 and 1670.55 km, respectively. In 1990, the number and area of glaciers on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains were 3270 and 2003.19 km, respectively.
