It aims to reveal the regulatory effect of sandy ridge slope direction and slope position on the response of desert plant communities to extreme drought. Four types of microtopography were set up in the experiment, namely, the bottom of the west slope (BW), the middle of the east slope (MW), the middle of the east slope (ME) and the bottom of the east slope (BE). Natural precipitation control (CK) and extreme drought treatment (Dro) were set up. The precipitation in the growing season was 35% of the control, that is, the precipitation was reduced by 65%). Six replicates were set for each slope position and treatment combination. Continuous observation was carried out for 2 years, and a total of 96 plot records were obtained. The data includes growing season precipitation, soil sand, silt and clay content, soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, soil water content, as well as plant community coverage, density, average height, species richness, Shannon diversity index, evenness, aboveground net primary productivity and aboveground productivity of dominant species and other indicators. This dataset can be used to study the interactive effects of extreme drought and sandy ridge microtopography on desert plant community structure, species diversity and ecosystem productivity.This dataset is stored in Excel format and contains the "Plant community & soil metrics" main data table, with a total of 96 observation records and 20 data fields.
