From January 2018 to December 2021, in the forest area of the Tropical Forestry Experimental Center of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, the dominant tree species in the South Asian tropics, Pinus massoniana Lamb. and Castanopsis hystrix Miq., were used as research objects to carry out continuous dynamic monitoring and research on rainfall outside the forest, runoff inside the forest, and stem flow. The sample plot layout and monitoring were carried out in accordance with regulations. This dataset has been analyzed and processed to obtain 24-hour measured data on rainfall outside the Red Pine and Masson Pine forests, internal runoff, and trunk flow. The construction of the dataset has also been explained. Establishing and sharing this dataset can provide fundamental data for in-depth research on forest water use patterns and their response to global climate change, as well as scientific reference for sustainable management and management of South Asian tropical forest ecosystems.
