TY - Data T1 - Arctic Land Microplastics Dataset (2005-2014) A1 - Zhang Yulan DO - 10.12072/ncdc.arctic-change.db7137.2026 PY - 2026 DA - 2026-05-07 PB - National Cryosphere Desert Data Center AB - The Arctic cryosphere, such as the Greenland ice sheet, permafrost, sea ice, and snow cover, plays an important role in the warming of the Arctic climate and the storage and release of anthropogenic pollutants. Microplastic particles, as an emerging anthropogenic pollutant, are currently widely present in marine and terrestrial environments worldwide. This data includes the abundance, morphology, particle size, polymer types, and emission fluxes of microplastics in rivers, lakes, snow cover, sea ice, seawater, and soil sediments in the Arctic region. The measurement of microplastics in this dataset is mainly carried out using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and stereo microscope. In order to understand microplastics in the Arctic cryosphere and their relationship with other environmental matrices, this dataset aims to explore the current status and identify key challenges in microplastic related research in the Arctic region.
