It is closely related to national reference data, with determinant coefficients (R2) greater than 0.99 for the years 2000, 2005, and 2010. It has good consistency with the GSW dataset, very similar dynamic changes, and spatial patterns in different regions. The ISWDC dataset can be used to study the interannual and seasonal variations of surface water systems. It can also serve as reference data for validating other surface water datasets, as well as input parameters for regional and global hydroclimate models.
