The station is supported by the Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and serves as an important long-term observation platform in the central Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The Base site of NPCE is located at Luoma Town of Nagqu city, Tibet Autonomous Region, at geographic coordinates 31.37°N, 91.90°E, with an elevation of 4,509 meters. Situated in the main body of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the site is characterized by a typical subalpine semi-arid climate. The base site of NPCE conducts long-term, multi-factor integrated observations, including atmospheric boundary layer structure, surface fluxes, frozen soil hydrology, radiation balance, and precipitation dynamics. The high-quality continuous observational data accumulated at the station provide critical scientific support for understanding the energy and water cycle patterns over the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, improving regional climate models, and assessing the impacts of climate change.
