The observation plot is located within the main site area of the Linze Inland River Basin Research Station (center coordinates: 100°07′51″E, 39°20′56.5″N, elevation: 1382 m), situated in a transitional zone between desert and oasis. The soil type is aeolian sandy soil, specifically classified as irrigated cultivated aeolian sandy soil (a sub-type). Groundwater depth ranges from 4 to 6 meters below the surface. The plot is rectangular, covering an area of 38 m × 58 m, and is managed under a wheat–maize rotation system with irrigation primarily sourced from groundwater, applied 7 to 10 times annually. Key monitored parameters include soil water content, surface water and groundwater quality, groundwater table depth, soil moisture constants, rainwater quality, and irrigation volume.
