The multispectral instrument on the Sentinel-2A satellite can provide 10 meter resolution multispectral images covering the globe (from 83 degrees north latitude to 56 degrees south latitude) every 10 days.Sentinel-2 satellite consists of two satellites, used to support vegetation, land cover, and environmental monitoring. The Sentinel-2 multispectral instrument collected 13 spectral bands along a 290 kilometer orbit, ranging from visible and near-infrared to short wave infrared (SWIR). The 10 meter resolution has four bands: blue (490 nanometers), green (560 nanometers), red (665 nanometers), and near-infrared (842 nanometers). There are 6 bands and 4 narrow bands with a resolution of 20 meters for vegetation characterization (705 nanometers, 740 nanometers, 783 nanometers, and 865 nanometers), and 2 larger SWIR bands (1610 nanometers and 2190 nanometers) for applications such as snow/ice/cloud detection or vegetation humidity stress assessment. The 60 meter resolution has three bands mainly used for cloud shielding and atmospheric correction (443 nanometers for aerosols, 945 nanometers for water vapor, and 1375 nanometers for cirrus detection)
