TY - Data T1 - A compiled dataset of aboveground biomass, rainfall zones, and ecological habitats of Egyptian desert and wild plants A1 - Mohamed Salah Amr Sheteiwy DO - 10.12072/ncdc.db7769.2026 PY - 2026 DA - 2026-09-03 PB - National Cryosphere Desert Data Center AB - This dataset compiles classification, above-ground biomass, precipitation zoning and ecological habitat information on deserts and wild plants in Egypt. The existing document contains 100 records covering 31 plant families. Based on annual precipitation, plant records are divided into semi-arid areas, arid areas and extremely arid areas. Among them, the semi-arid areas are 100-200 mm·yr ³, with a total of 25 records; the arid areas are 30-100 mm·yr ³, with a total of 39 records; and the extreme arid areas are less than 30 mm·yr ³, with a total of 36 records. Data fields include plant scientific name, family name, Arabic name or English common name, above-ground biomass range, precipitation zoning, main ecological habitats and adaptive characteristics, and reference sources. The above-ground biomass of plants is mainly expressed in kg·ha ‰, and some woody plants are expressed in t·ha ‰. This dataset can be used to understand the floristic composition, aboveground biomass range and main habitat types in Egypt with different drought levels. However, it should not be directly used for quantitative comprehensive analysis until duplicate species, taxonomic names, units and references have been verified. This dataset is currently stored in PDF form and has a total of 7 pages and 100 records. The data covers 31 plant families, including Legumentum, Amaranaceae, Compositae, Gramineae, Labiatae, Tribulaceae, Oleaniaceae, etc. Each record includes serial number, plant scientific name, family name, Arabic name or English common name, above-ground biomass range, annual precipitation zoning, ecological habitat and main characteristics, and reference sources. The above-ground biomass data is expressed in range format, with 85 records using kg·ha ‰ and 15 records using t·ha ‰. Precipitation zones include semi-arid areas (100-200 mm·yr 丨), arid areas (30-100 mm·yr 丨) and extremely arid areas (<30 mm·yr 丨). Ecological habitats include sand dunes, salt marshes, saline-alkali depressi DB - NCDC UR - http://www.ncdc.ac.cn/portal/metadata/ff36204d-69d1-4407-8487-d7b08c94f980 ER -
