Koktokay Station was officially selected into the field support station sequence of the State Key Laboratory of Cryosphere Science in 2020, and some observation data have been opened and shared through the National Glacier and Frozen Soil Desert Scientific Data Center. The construction of the observation network will provide key data support for the sustainable development of the source area of the two rivers in the Altay Mountains and the water and ecological security of the whole northern Xinjiang. Since the snow observation was carried out on the south slope of the eastern part of Altay in August 2011, the Koktokay Station has completed the construction of seven observation sites, including Kuwei Bridge (August 2011), Kaier (September 2017), Jinge (September 2018), Sandaohaizi (September 2019), Koksuri (October 2020), ski resort (July 2021) and Akshala (July 2021), basically forming the weather, snow Frozen soil observation network.
