The National Field Scientific Observation Research station for Cryosphere Special Environment and Disasters in the Changtang (hereinafter referred to as Golmud railway station) is a field station that mainly observes and studies permafrost, one of the Cryosphere elements in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, and is subordinate to the Institute of Environment and Engineering in Cold and Dry Regions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The station is located in Golmud City, Qinghai Province (94 ° 54 ′ E, 36 ° 24 ′ N, 2800 meters above sea level). It was founded in 1987, and was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the National Field Science Observation Research station in 2005. In 2019, the National Field Science Observation Research station of the Ministry of Science and Technology ranked as excellent. Guided by the ecological Safety barrier and the construction needs of Megaproject on the Tibetan Plateau, Golmud railway station focuses on the dynamics and impacts of major Cryosphere elements such as permafrost and snow cover. Based on the Tibetan Plateau, it carries out positioning monitoring, scientific research, experimental demonstration, and other Cryosphere scientific fields such as the process and mechanism of Cryosphere change, the impact of Cryosphere change on climate, ecology, and hydrology, Cryosphere change, and sustainable development Talent training and science popularization education provide scientific and technological support for the construction of national ecological civilization and the implementation of the "the Belt and Road" initiative.
