The Yellow River is the second largest river in China, originating from the Yueguzongli Basin at an altitude of 4500m on the northern foothills of the Bayan Har Mountains in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It flows through nine provinces (regions) including Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, and Shandong, and empties into the Bohai Sea in the Kenli District of Shandong Province. The total length of the main river channel is 5464km, with a drop of 4480m and a drainage area of 795000 km2 (including 42000 km2 of internal flow area).
