The distribution map of permafrost and underground ice around the Arctic is the only international permafrost data map compiled by the International Association of permafrost and permafrost research institutions of many countries in 1997. The permafrost map describes the distribution and properties of permafrost in the northern hemisphere (20 ° n to 90 ° n) and the underground ice conditions. Permafrost can be divided into continuous (90-100%), discontinuous (50-90%), sporadic (10-50%), Island (less than 10%) and no permafrost. The underground ice abundance at the top 20 meters is divided by the volume percentage of ice (more than 20%, 10-20%, less than 10% and 0%). The ESRI shape file was released from a 1:10000000 paper map (Brown et al. 1997). The map can be used in global climate change, polar resource development, environmental protection and other related fields. The Chinese part is shown in Figure 6. For more information, refer to the literature (heginbottom et al. 1993).
