The Great Wall Station, built on February 20, 1985, is located on King George Island in the South Shetland Islands. Its geographical coordinates are 62 degrees 12 minutes 59 seconds south latitude and 58 degrees 57 minutes 52 seconds west longitude. China's Great Wall Station in Antarctica is the first scientific research station in Antarctica established by China. China has set up a permanent scientific investigation station in Antarctica for the purpose of scientific investigation in Antarctica. Located on the Fildes Peninsula in the west of King George Island in the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica, it is adjacent to the Great Wall Bay, a small bay in Maxwell Bay in the East. The bay is wide and deep with convenient access. It is backed by the snow covered hillside all the year round and has sufficient water resources.
