This data set is the observation data of soil moisture content in Nanxiaohegou watershed from 1955 to 1980. The soil samples are processed by drying method after manual soil sampling with soil drill.

Manual timing observation
The time interval of soil water content observation is usually 10 days, i.e. sampling on the 1st, 11th and 21st of each month. After precipitation, the soil water content after rain must be measured. The representative depth of the soil drill is 0-10cm, 10-20cm, 20-40cm, 40-60cm, 60-80cm and 80-100cm. Two samples are taken for each layer, which are processed by drying method and calculated by weight difference method. The average value of soil moisture is the soil moisture content of the soil layer.
In the process of integration and input of observation data, four levels of manual verification are carried out, including tabulation, primary calibration, re calibration and audit, so as to ensure the data quality.
