The data set (spatial resolution: 50km) of carbon pool distribution in arid areas of China from 1980 to 2014 was obtained by collecting three sets of meteorological data, namely, merra, era interim and CFSR, which were used to drive the AEM of arid area ecological model, and the data quality was analyzed and evaluated with the existing literature. This data set mainly includes the grid map of carbon pool distribution (merra, era interim and CFSR) in China's arid areas from 1980 to 2014. The study area covers an approximate spatial range of 30 ° n – 50 ° N and 70 ° e – 110 ° e, including Xinjiang, northwest Gansu and southwest Inner Mongolia. The driving data set of AEM model includes: meteorological data set (daily maximum temperature ℃, daily minimum temperature ℃, daily average temperature ℃, precipitation m m / day, short wave radiation w · m − 2 / day, relative humidity%), terrain data (elevation, slope direction and gradient), soil texture (silt, clay and sand), vegetation function type map, CO2 concentration, etc. The time resolution of model input data is daily scale, and that of output data is annual scale. Terrain data includes: slope, aspect, elevation and other data. Elevation data comes from the 30m global elevation data set of Aster (the advanced space borne thermal emission and Reflection Radiometer) and version 2 (Aster GDEM, V2, industry (METI) of Japan and the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)).
