The Yellow River is the mother river of the Chinese nation, and the tourism resources in the Yellow River Basin are one of the most abundant and distinctive cultural tourism belts in China. This dataset is based on natural river basins, with county (district) administrative boundaries as units, and tourism resource directory data of each county (district) as the basis. Referring to the national tourism resource classification standards, it uses basic geographic information data such as high-resolution satellite images and vector electronic maps from the Yellow River region in 2022 to extract spatial distribution information of tourism resources in the entire basin by type and level. Including two primary categories of natural landscapes and cultural landscapes along the Yellow River in 9 provinces, as well as 10 secondary categories of A-level or above tourism resources in the entire basin, covering a watershed area of approximately 800000 km2 in the Yellow River Basin. The spatial distribution dataset of tourism resources in the Yellow River Basin can provide scientific decision-making basis for cultural tourism planning, development, utilization and protection in the Yellow River Basin.

This dataset mainly comes from the cultural and tourism resource catalogs, statistical yearbooks, and basic geographic information, surface coverage, remote sensing images of the Yellow River Basin provided by the cultural and tourism bureaus, statistical bureaus, and other departments in various counties and districts of the Yellow River Basin, as well as the National Science and Technology Resource Sharing Service Platform.
Based on high-resolution satellite images and vector electronic maps of the Yellow River region, overlay relevant tourist attractions, and complete spatial distribution mapping of various levels of tourist attractions in accordance with the requirements of thematic maps; Finally, use the basic geographic information data of the Yellow River Basin (basin boundaries, administrative divisions, river systems, transportation networks, residential areas) to create a thematic data base map.
To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data, this study conducted on-site investigations and interviews on the development and utilization of natural, cultural, and red tourism resources, as well as the current status of scenic spot construction in the Yellow River Basin. A large amount of first-hand relevant information was obtained, including geographical, surface coverage, DEM elevation, administrative zoning, satellite remote sensing, climate, natural disasters, and other thematic data of the Yellow River Basin.
