The Qilian Mountain Water Resources Conservation Forest Research Institute of Gansu Province was established in July 1978. The research institute has four research experimental bases and six academic platforms for research bases. The research institute has established a sand plant specimen room: collecting 152 species of sand plants belonging to 86 genera and 41 families. Qilian Mountains Herbarium has been established: 385 species of Qilian Mountains herbarium belonging to 176 genera and 59 families have been collected. There are two 400 square meter outdoor science popularization and education platforms built.The research field of the research institute involves forest ecology, desertification monitoring, wetland research, germplasm resource protection, and genetic breeding, and has basically formed field research and experimental conditions for the layout of high mountain areas, shallow mountain areas, and oasis desert areas to become more reasonable.
