Daxigou weather station was established in June 1958, located at the hillside of TIANGEER peak in Daxigou, Urumqi county (beside Glacier No.1 at the headwaters of Urumqi River), 3543.8m, is a national first-class weather station, mainly engaged in cloud physics experiment and climate monitoring. It was handed over to Urumqi Meteorological Bureau in 1975. In 2007, it was renamed as Daxigou national meteorological observation station in accordance with the requirements of operational and technical system reform of China Meteorological Administration.
