This dataset focuses on the characteristics of the alpine climate in the desert areas of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Taking the Qaidam Basin of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau in China as the core area of the survey, and taking into account areas such as the Ali Plateau valley of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, vegetation types such as cushion shaped dwarf and semi shrub alpine desert, juicy halophytic dwarf and semi shrub desert, semi shrub dwarf and semi shrub desert, and shrub desert distributed in these areas were investigated from 2017 to 2021. The main vegetation formations surveyed include: Tibetan Chrysanthemum Alpine Desert, Cushioned Camellia Ceratoides Alpine Desert, Tanggute Rhodiola Alpine Desert, Salt Claw Desert, Xiaoye Jinlumei Desert, Pamir Ephedra Desert, Film Fruit Ephedra Desert, etc

The survey area is divided into three areas, including 30 survey points in Ali, Xizang, 295 survey points in the hinterland of Qaidam, and 35 survey points in the northeast of Qaidam Basin. During the survey, while investigating the main plant communities in the desert areas of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, drones were used to investigate the community habitats
The drone shooting heights were 10 meters, 30 meters, 50 meters, 70 meters, 90 meters, and 110 meters, respectively. Except for 13 military control zone no fly zones, a total of 1893 drone photos were obtained. The drone images of community habitats were input into the survey of desert plant community data in China. Through the photos, we can see the terrain, surface rivers, and relative vegetation coverage of eroded gullies where the sample points are located
