This data set is the material balance observation data set of Glacier No.1 at the source of Urumqi River in Tianshan Mountains from 2012 to 2016, including: (1) The results of single point mass balance observation and calculation of the East Branch of Glacier No.1 at the source of Tianshan River in Urumqi from 2012 to 2016. The material balance observation points are arranged on the basis of the previous year's observation and research work, that is, nine cross-sections (A-I, etc.) are arranged from the ice tongue to the top of the melting area of the East branch and the West Branch of Glacier No.1 respectively. Three measuring rods are arranged at equal distance on the ice surface for each cross-section to observe the volume consumption during the ablation period. The data of the accumulation area are obtained from the observation results of digging snow pits Yes. The material balance observation method of Glacier No.1 in this year is the same as that of the previous year, that is, the observation starts from the end of April / the beginning of May, and the observation is conducted at the end of each month or at the beginning of the month, and the last observation is completed at the end of August / early September. The observation equipment includes tape measure, material balance scale, flower pole, steam drill, etc.
