This data set is the runoff and sediment observation data of Xindiangou watershed test site from 1954 to 1979. The runoff and sediment yield are calculated by water level observation and sediment sampling at runoff station. The data set includes flow section diagram of runoff station, measured discharge result table, extraction table of flood hydrological elements, successive flood test result table, daily average discharge table, daily average sediment concentration table and daily average sediment transport rate table. See the basic information table of runoff stations in xindiangou basin for the situation of runoff stations.

Artificial timing observation
1. The water level observation method of runoff station is as follows: read the water gauge number of the flow measurement structure on the flow measurement section, and observe once a day at 8:00 in non flood season; observe twice at 8:00 and 20:00 when the daily water level changes slowly in case of rainfall; and observe four times at 2:00, 8:00, 14:00 and 20:00 when the daily water level changes greatly or appears slow peak and valley. When the water level changes violently in flood season, the observation shall be made in multiples of 6 minutes. 2. The flow measurement method of runoff station in the test site: Basle flume is used to measure the flow, and the push flow formula is used for flow calculation. 3. Sediment sampling and treatment: the midstream buoy method is used to sample the sediment at the flow measurement section. The frequency of sediment sampling depends on the frequency of flood water level change, and the sampling frequency is increased to control the change of sediment concentration at flood peak. The sample was treated by displacement method.
Manual observation is carried out by professional and technical personnel; four levels of manual verification are carried out in the process of data input, which are tabulation, initial calibration, re calibration and audit, so as to ensure the data quality.
