This dataset is based on Landsat OLI images, combined with ArcGIS and ENVI software, NDSI and GoogleEarth images, and uses semi-automated glacier mapping methods to extract glacier boundaries. This data can provide basic data support for glacier research in the Tianshan Mountains.

The raw image is Landsat OLI Landsat image data downloaded from the Geospatial Data Cloud (http://www.gscloud.cn/).
1. The band ratio method automatically extracts the initial glacier boundary;
2. Manually revise the initial boundary.
The error can be considered to be caused by the resolution of remote sensing images after visual interpretation of the glacier boundary was captured. Therefore, the uncertainty of glacier interpretation can be calculated according to the formula: EA = N·λ2/2, where N is the number of pixels; λ is the resolution of different remote sensing images. A comprehensive assessment shows that the uncertainty of visual interpretation of glaciers is ±0.96 km2.
