This ice lake cataloging is supported by International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and United National Environment Program / regional resources center, Asia and the Pacific (UNEP / rrc-ap), cold and Arid Region Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (CAREERI).

1. Landsat (TM, ETM), aster and other remote sensing data are used to catalogue the glacial lakes in Himalayas in 2004.

2. The catalogue of glacial lakes covers Pumqu (Arun), rongxer (Tama Koshi), poiqu (Bhote sun Koshi), jilongcangbu (trishuli), zangbuqin (budhigandaki), majiacangbu (Humla karnali) and other basins in Himalayas

3. The contents of ice lake cataloging include: ice lake cataloging, ice lake type, ice lake orientation, ice lake width, ice lake area, ice lake depth, ice lake length and other attributes
