The original MODIS snowpack data product for which this dataset was de-clouded was derived from the MOD10A1 product processed by the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC); this dataset is in hdf format with sinusoidal projection. The dataset is a day-by-day file, from February 24, 2000 to December 31, 2015. Each file is the result of the proportion of snow area on that day, with values from 0-100 (%), and is an ENVI standard file with the naming convention: yyyyddd_FSC_0.5km.img, where yyyy stands for the year and ddd stands for the Julian day (001-365/366). The file can be opened directly by ENVI or ARCMAP software.

Data format: ENVI standard format. File naming rule: “YYYYddd ‘+’_FSC_0.5km ‘+’.img”, where YYYY stands for year and ddd stands for Julian day (“001-365/366”). 001-365/366), of which “.img” is a file suffix added to facilitate the opening of ARCMAP and other software to view. For example, 2000055_FSC_0.5km.img represents the results for day 55 of 2000. The ENVI file for this dataset consists of a header file and a body. The header file includes the number of rows, columns, bands, file type, data type, data record format, and projection information; for example, the file 2000055_FSC_0.5km.img.
The Tibetan Plateau day-by-day cloud-free MODIS snow area ratio dataset (2000-2015) is based on the MODIS day-by-day snow product, MOD10A1, and is de-clouded using a de-clouded algorithm based on cubic spline interpolation. The original MODIS snowpack data product that was de-clouded was derived from the MOD10A1 product processed by the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), and this dataset is in hdf format with sinusoidal projection.
Data quality is good.
