SRM snowmelt runoff model is a typical representative of empirical models. It was proposed by Swiss scientists martinec and Rango in the early 1980s. It has been tested and applied in more than 100 watersheds in more than 20 countries. Due to the simplicity and high accuracy of SRM model, scholars have carried out in-depth research and achieved more results. Rango has modified the parameters of SRM model for many times, so that the model can be more widely extended; Brubaker corrected the improper extraction of degree day factors; Im merzeeel and others used the SRM model to study the impact of climate change on Asian water tower; SRM has been widely used to study the impact of climate change on Asian water tower In the Ganges River Basin, it is found that the model is not limited by basin scale and height, which indicates that the model can not only be applied at small watershed scale. Parflow is an open source, object-oriented and parallel watershed scale model. It includes a fully integrated land flow with the ability to simulate complex topography, geology and heterogeneity, as well as land surface processes including land energy budget, biogeochemistry, and snow (through CLM). It can run on multiple platforms. Parflow is the result of a long, multi agency development history and is now a collaboration between CSM, LLNL, uni Bonn and UCB. Parflow is combined with mesoscale, weather code ARPS and NCAR code WRF.
