Winter wheat crops play an important role in human diet and are planted worldwide. Accurate spatial distribution information of winter wheat crops is crucial for monitoring crop production and food security. This dataset uses a new crop localization method based on the Winter Wheat Crop Index (WTCI) to draw the world's first 30 meter resolution winter wheat crop distribution map from 2017 to 2022.

A new method for identifying winter wheat crops without samples based on normalized vegetation index (NDVI) features from heading to harvest and differences from other types of vegetation features.
Through field investigations and validation with Google Earth samples, it has been shown that this method has good performance and stable spatiotemporal transferability. The producer accuracy is 81.12%, the user accuracy is 87.85%, and the overall accuracy is 87.7%.
