This dataset contains data on soil types, soil classes, sub-classes, and parent materials for various provinces, municipalities, and regions along the Yellow River Basin.
Soil Type Names: Soil types refer to a collection of soil individuals with similar soil characteristics. A soil individual with a clear central concept is selected as a representative to serve as the basis for comparing and assessing differences in soil properties and for classifying soil types.
Soil Class Names: Soil classes refer to the names of various soil classifications.
Sub-class Name: Sub-classes are further divisions of soil classes, reflecting additional soil-forming processes beyond the dominant one.
Parent Material: Parent material is the weathered product formed by the weathering of rock minerals on the Earth's surface. It serves as the material basis for soil formation and constitutes the skeleton of soil. It is distinct from soil but has a profound impact on soil formation and fertility development. Many properties of the parent material are inherited by the soil. Changes in the physicochemical properties of the parent material form the upper part of the loosely structured weathered crust.

This dataset contains data on soil types, soil classes, sub-classes, and parent materials for various provinces, municipalities, and regions along the Yellow River Basin.
The provinces, municipalities, and regions along the Yellow River Basin included in the dataset are: Henan Province (Sanmenxia City, Luoyang City, Jiaozuo City, Zhengzhou City, Xinxiang City, Kaifeng City, Puyang City), Shaanxi Province (Yulin City, Yan'an City, Weinan City), Shanxi Province (Luliang City, Xinzhou City, Linfen City, Yuncheng City), Shandong Province (Heze City, Jining City, Tai'an City, Liaocheng City, Jinan City, Dezhou City, Binzhou City, Zibo City, Dongying City), Qinghai Province (Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Haidong City), Sichuan Province (Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture), Gansu Province (Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Lanzhou City, Baiyin City), Ningxia (Zhongwei City, Wuzhong City, Yinchuan City), and Inner Mongolia (Wuhai City, Bayannur, Erdos City).
The data was obtained through keyword searches on the official website of the China Soil Database( http://vdb3.soil.csdb.cn/front/list- Consolidated database $Intel_ location_ Name) The data was then organized and compiled into a tabular form.
During the process of data production and compilation, strict measures for data quality control were implemented, ensuring a robust procedure for data generation and utilization.
